چکیده

amounts of free taurine, alanine, glycine, and glutamic acid and smaller amounts of a number of other ninhydrin-reactive constituents being found (8@, 88, 85). A characteristic feature of the tumor patterns has been the finding that the level of glutamine has been generally below the level of detection of the chromatographic procedures. However, free glutamine appears when tumors be gin to regress (83). All normal tissues examined have shown the presence of glutamine. The present report is concerned with studies of the free amino acids of the fluid and cells of the Yoshida ascites sarcoma, an easily manipulated neoplasm which has been particularly well studied from a cytological point of view (@8, @9, 81, 48).

Isolated Cells- Normal and Tumor Preparation and Protein Synthesis of Thymocytes and Yoshida Ascites Cells of the Rat*

A method has been described by which whole cells may be separated from the thymus tissue of rats. Cells obtained by this method have been found capable of incorporating leucine, valine, glycine, and alanine (labeled with C x4 in the carboxyl position) a t a rate equal to or slightly higher than that observed in slices of thynms tissue, in Yoshida ascites tumor cells from the rat, and in Ehrlich...

Free carboxylate groups required for transport of neutral amino acids by the Ehrlich ascites-tumor cell.

Although uncharged structures analogous to the carboxyl group of the amino acid molecule have served in place of that group for transport into some cells, we find that substitution either by the carboxamide group or by the chloromethyl ketone group eliminates inhibition of transport Systems A or L of the Ehrlich ascites tumor cell. Comparison of the loss of System L transport on acidification s...

Effect of polylysine on the leakage and retention of compounds by Ehrlich ascites tumor cells.

Washed Ehrlich ascites tumor cells were suspended in either a saline or a polylysine saline solution. The cells were centrifuged, and the supernatant above the polylysinet reated or control cells or the cell pellet was studied. Inorganic phosphate, carbohydrate, free amino acids, small peptides, potassium, and adenosine-5'-monophosphate were released from the tumor cells into the supernatant af...
